WHAT COOKIES ARE

Cookies are data created by a server that are stored in text files on the hard disk of the computer or on any device used by the user to access the Internet (smartphones, tablets) and allow information to be collected on the browsing carried out by the user on the website.

Cookies can be stored permanently on your computer and have a variable duration (so-called persistent cookies) but can also disappear when the browser is closed or have a limited duration (so-called session cookies).

Cookies can be installed by the website you are visiting (so-called first party cookies) or can be installed by other websites (so-called third-party cookies).

HOW WE USE THE COOKIES

  1. Technical cookies
    1. session/browsing: The use of so-called session cookies (that are not stored permanently on the user’s computer and disappear when the browser is closed) is strictly limited to transmitting session identifications (made up of random numbers generated by the server) necessary to allow the safe and effective exploration of the website and of its applications. The so-called session cookies used in the ZIGNAGO website avoid using other computer techniques that may affect the confidentiality of users’ browsing and do not permit the acquisition of the user’s personal identification data. They do not require your consent.
    2. Persistent cookies: persistent cookies remain on the device even after leaving the website, until the user deletes them or until they reach their expiry date. The ZIGNAGO website creates this kind of cookie so that they can be read when the user visits the website again. This makes it possible, for instance, to find the preferences set (e.g. wish lists, basket…) in subsequent visits too. They do not require your consent.
  2. Analytical cookies: cookies installed to collect aggregated information of a mainly statistical nature (how long you remain on a web page, number of website visitors…).
    1. First party analytical cookies: similar to technical cookies insofar as they are installed directly by the website that you are visiting to improve the browsing experience. They do not require your consent.
    2. Third party analytical cookies: analytical cookies created and installed by third parties for analysing the users’ browsing habits to create statistics on the visits or to improve the content offer, to show products similar to one another and if necessary to position customised advertising in the web pages. The system used is Google Analytics, a web analytics tool provided by Google LLC (« Google”). Google Analytics, like the other systems, uses « cookies to allow the website to analyse how the users use the website. The information generated by the cookie on the use of the Website by the user (including your IP address) will be transmitted to and deposited with the Google servers in the United States. Google will use this information to track and examine your use of the website, to compile reports on the website activity and to provide other services concerning the use of the Internet. Google may also transfer this information to third parties, if obliged to do so by law or if these third parties process this information on behalf of Google. Google will not associate the user’s IP address to any other data possessed by Google. The user may in any case refuse to use cookies, by selecting the relevant setting on their browser, but this may prevent them from using all the functions of this website. Since the IP address is visible, the use of these cookies requires your consent. By clicking on the “Continue” button present in the banner or by continuing to browse the ZIGNAGO website, the user agrees to their data being processed by Google for the manners and purposes indicated above.
  3. Profiling cookies: cookies used to track the user’s browsing on the net and to create profiles for his or her tastes, habits, choices, etc. With these cookies advertising messages can be sent to the user’s terminal with the preferences already manifested by the same user in browsing online.
    1. First party profiling cookies: used and installed by ZIGNAGO to collect information on the user’s browsing habits with the purpose of proposing advertising messages as relevant as possible for his or her interests. This means that they are used also to limit the number of times the user views certain advertising: for ZIGNAGO it means communicating more effectively, for the user it means receiving less invasive advertising, which is closer to their preferences. While browsing the ZIGNAGO website, promotional cookies provide confirmation that the user is consulting the advertising messages, showing them promotional content that can be of their interest on the basis of what they have visited before. While the user browses other websites, these cookies also make it possible to show content that the user has recently consulted on the ZIGNAGO website for promotional purposes. The ZIGNAGO website uses promotional cookies exclusively anonymously: the advertising is specific but the user cannot be identified. The promotional cookies used are permanent, although they remain in the user’s device for a limited time. They require your consent.
    2. Third party profiling cookies: used and installed by third parties to track the user’s browsing on the web and to create profiles on their tastes, habits, choices… These cookies are managed by third party companies like TagMan, DoubleClick, AddThis. On the ZIGNAGO website you can also find social buttons/widgets, that is those particular “buttons » showing the icons of the social networks (for example, Facebook and Twitter). These “buttons” allow the users browsing the website to reach and interact directly on the social networks with a « click ». By clicking on the Social buttons/widgets, the social network acquires the data related to the user’s visit to the ZIGNAGO website and simultaneously releases its own profiling cookies.

MANAGING COOKIE PREFERENCES

Consent to use the cookies is given in one of the following manners:

  • by clicking on the “Continue” button present in the banner containing the short disclosure, that appears the moment the user accesses the website;
  • by continuing to browse the ZIGNAGO website by accessing another area of the website or by selecting an element of the same page.

HOW TO MODIFY THE COOKIE SETTINGS

Most internet browsers are initially set to accept cookies automatically. This means that the user can set his or her browser so as to accept all the cookies, just some of them, or to refuse them, by disabling their use by the websites, at any moment. Furthermore the user can normally set the preferences of his or her browser so that they are warned every time a cookie is stored on their computer. Finally, at the end of each browsing session , the user may delete the cookies collected from his or her device’s hard disk. If you want to delete the cookies installed in the cookies folder of the browser used, you must remember that each browser has a different procedure for managing the settings.
